About CraftedCalcs
Focused construction-material calculators. Transparent formulas, tested math, clear disclosures — built to help you plan quantities before you shop.
What we build
CraftedCalcs is a focused library of calculators for construction, renovation, and DIY projects — stairs, concrete, drywall, roofing, flooring, framing, and the rest. Each page answers a specific question (for example, how many risers, treads, and what stringer length do I need for a given floor height?) using formulas drawn from industry-standard references: the International Residential Code, American Concrete Institute, International Code Council, and manufacturer technical documentation.
Every calculator shows its formula on the page, cites the authority behind it, and runs client-side in your browser — no server round-trip, nothing stored about your project. Every page carries a standing disclaimer footer, and where applicable we add in-context notes directing you to a licensed professional for code-critical work. The math is a starting point; your local building authority and a qualified contractor have the final say on safety and compliance.
Our standards
Four commitments shape how every page is built:
- Formulas are visible and cited. You can see the math, check it, and follow the reference back to its source. No black boxes.
- Calculations are tested. Formulas ship with automated unit tests that check output against known industry values. Tests run on every deployment; a regression blocks the release.
- AI assists; humans review. We use AI tooling, including large language models, for research, structure, and drafting. Formulas are cross-checked against cited authorities before publication. See our AI Disclosure for the full breakdown.
- Uncertainty is part of the design. Where a calculation depends on local code, site conditions, or professional judgment, our page template includes sections to flag it. Scope is narrow on purpose — a focused calculator you can verify beats a broad one you can't.
How we're different
Most calculator sites either bury their formulas (so you can't verify the math) or drown the page in generic content that isn't specific to the question you asked. We take the opposite approach:
- Every page earns its URL. A page only ships if it answers a question a sibling page doesn't already answer. No near-duplicates for SEO padding.
- Interactive diagrams. Where a diagram clarifies the math (like the stair cross-section), we draft it to architectural-drafting conventions — labeled callouts, measurement lines, and hover cross-highlighting that ties every term in the legend to its place on the drawing.
- Transparent monetization. The site is funded by display advertising and, on some pages, affiliate links to products we'd use ourselves. Ads never influence calculator math. Affiliate links are labeled per FTC guidance. See our Ad & Affiliate Disclosure for details.
- Accessibility from day one. Every page meets WCAG 2.1 AA — keyboard navigable, screen-reader friendly, no reliance on color alone. Works with ad blockers and without JavaScript.
Who runs it
CraftedCalcs is operated by Madabusi Ventures LLC. The company builds focused digital products under a set of shared corporate and editorial standards — transparency, accessibility, no dark patterns, no claims we can't back up. CraftedCalcs is one of those products.
We're a small, independent operation. Pages are reviewed against a written editorial checklist before they ship. No content farm, no outsourced bulk generation, no SEO slop.
What CraftedCalcs is not
- Not a substitute for professional judgment. For structural, load-bearing, electrical, plumbing, gas, or code-critical work, consult a licensed contractor and your local building authority. See our disclaimer.
- Not a contractor directory, marketplace, or e-commerce store. We don't sell services or products. If we link to a product, it's labeled as an affiliate link.
- Not a YMYL health or financial site. We calculate materials, not medication doses or retirement income.
- Not AI slop. We use AI; we also test it, edit it, and hold it to a human standard.
Feedback, corrections, and calculator requests
If you find a math error, an unclear explanation, or you want a calculator we don't yet have, we want to hear from you. Our feedback form routes directly to our editorial queue — every submission is read, and calculator requests become tracked tickets in our build pipeline.
For privacy requests, legal questions, or content corrections specifically, the form has a type selector that routes your message to the right place.
